Case Studies of Future Teachers: Learning to Teach with Technology
Alysa Cozart has been working with Dr. Melissa Pierson on a longitudinal study that explores preservice teachers ’ developing vision of technology in teaching and learning. These case studies include eight teacher education students whom Dr. Pierson and Alysa are following for four years, the two years of the teacher education program and the first two inductive years of teaching. Dr. Pierson and Alysa are using qualitative methods of interviewing and observation to better understand the perceptions, and challenges of teaching with technology and the driving development of a technology-rich program by education students. Recently, Dr. Pierson and Alysa presented their research paper at the 2004 National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) and won the SIGTE Research Paper Award. This award recognizes excellence in research in the area of technology and teacher education and is awarded by ISTE’s Teacher Education Special Interest Group (SIGTE). |
